Engineered Slab Foundation

Engineered Slab Foundation

An engineered slab foundation is a large, thick slab of concrete that is typically 4”-6” thick in the center and poured directly on the ground all at one time. Very little preparation is needed in order to begin working on a slab foundation, and the actual installation is very simple. An engineered slab foundation is a fast and economical foundation. Eliminating the need for floor framing and the extra excavation and concrete needed for a crawl space or basement, slabs are great choices in any climate.

Experts recommend using engineered slab foundations in warmer climates, since freezing temperatures can cause the slab to shift in cold climates. An engineered slab foundation is most commonly constructed on property that has been graded, as it should be. It is very important that the soil be graded because if it’s not, the foundation could sink or settle due to poor soil compaction.
